We begin first — in the name of God and of my lord Saint George (meser sant Zorzo) — with grappling on foot (abraçare a pe), at the gaining of the holds (prese). The holds are not gained if they are not with advantage; therefore we four Masters seek holds with advantage (prese avantaçade), as you may see depicted. — [1]
It announces the four crowned Masters of folio 6r and states the section's governing rule: a hold is only worth taking if it carries advantage.
